Social Security Turns 70

Social Security is much more than a retirement program, although without it more than half of women age 65 and older would be living in poverty. Social Security is a national commitment through which we care for one another across generations, providing critical insurance protections to women throughout their lives.

AAUW is a vocal advocate against privatization and works to make sure Social Security is strong for future generations. Join us in urging members of Congress to oppose privatization proposals and to preserve and protect Social Securitys guaranteed, lifetime, and social insurance benefits.
