The National Initiative For Democracy
Returning Government To The People.
The National Initiative For Democracy is a proposed amendment to
the Constitution of the United States, and an accompanying federal
statute. When enacted, the National Initiative will bring the People
into government as lawmakers at the national level and in every
state and local government jurisdiction in the United States.
Beginning in 2002, the People of the United States will have an
opportunity to enact the National Initiative in a national election
conducted by the nonprofit corporation Philadelphia II.
Granny D
After her long walk across the United States for
campaign finance reform, Granny D went back
to a dozen states to protest, cajole, walk, meet, and lead. She
led 80 friends into her own Congressman's office and finally
forced his vote --a critical vote during the discharge petition
phase. She was jailed twice. She spoke at dozens and dozens of
book stores and campuses and was on the phone several times a
day to reporters and radio programs. She helped to get the AARP
on board, with its awesome lobbying and phone banking assets.
During the Senate debate, she met with half the senators privately
and fasted and walked around the senate around-the-clock in
freezing rain. She did that so nobody could again dare say that
ordinary Americans don't care.
